Host a crowd for the people you'd vouch for

Know good people who should meet? Hosting a crowd will let you bring them together on shofa.social. You'll decide who gets in to a crowd that meets at a partner cafe's table. We're still building hosting and will email you when it opens if you leave your address below.

How it will work

  1. Start a crowd by giving it a name, saying who it's for and choosing a home partner cafe plus up to two other partner cafes nearby.
  2. Invite people you'd vouch for with a link or a QR code. Each of them will ask to join.
  3. Let people in from a list of requests showing each person's first photo, age and area. A request you don't take will fade after 7 days without anyone being told no.
  4. Everyone in your crowd will have had their photos taken at a partner cafe. Inside, the usual rules will apply. A 👋 will be a private request to meet. A meeting will be arranged at the cafe's table only when the 👋 is mutual.

What you'll see as a host

  • How many people are in your crowd and how many tables it booked this month.
  • Every request to join, with the photos the cafe took.
  • You won't see anyone's waves or matches. Those will stay between the two people.

Questions

Who will be able to host?

Any shofa.social member who has had their photos taken at a partner cafe. Hosts are real, photographed members like everyone else.

Will I see who waves at whom?

A 👋 and a match will stay private to the two people. As the host, you'll see how many people are in your crowd and how many tables it has booked.

Do the people I invite need to live near my cafe?

They can live anywhere, because each of them will have their photos taken at the partner cafe closest to them. Meetings from your crowd will happen at your crowd's cafes.

What if someone in my crowd behaves badly?

You'll be able to remove anyone from your crowd. Anyone will also be able to report a concern. A cafe's ban will apply in every crowd that meets at that cafe.

Will it cost anything?

Whether hosting will cost anything is still being decided. Photoshoots at partner cafes are paid at the cafe's till, at a price each cafe sets.
